Atlas of the industrialization of the new states of Germany
Analysis of the economic development in Eastern Germany
Project:
HIE-RO is designing an additional study with the objective of encouraging an official discussion about the current situation concerning development in the eastern states of Germany. It seeks to identify the effects and challenges, as well as the actions required in this part of the region.
In 2008 HIE-RO published a study focused on future economical fields in the eastern states of Germany (Wirtschaftliche Zukunftsfelder in Ostdeutschland: Future economic fields in East Germany), which was commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development. Due to the development potentials that were presented, the resonance was consistently positive and confirmed that the population has a growing interest in the topic of East Germany.
Now, at the behest of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, HIE-RO is designing an additional study with the objective of encouraging an official discussion about the status quo of the development in the eastern states of Germany. It is envisaged that this will identify the effects and challenges, as well as the required actions in East Germany. The findings will be provided in an Atlas of the industrialisation of the new states of Germany which include short stories and primary land maps of old and new industries with growing potential fields and regional clusters/networks. The or a benchmark outcome will set a benchmark at a national level and for the international market.
